Spend the Night

Taneum Cabin
13941 W Taneum Rd., Thorp, WA

Taneum Cabin is a small four room cabin with indoor plumbing. It is available for rent from Memorial Day to Labor day. Propane used for light, cooking, refrigerator and waterheater. There is a fire ring and picnic table outside. Max stay 14 nights. Bathroom, Potable Water, Shower. Must have reservations!

Day One: Afternoon

306 S Main St #2, Ellensburg

Known to be a must stop for people traveling, Daily Bread and Mercantile. Come in for Specialty Baking and Cooking Supplies; Fresh, Homemade sandwiches and soup; and a loaf of their Daily Bread for home.

Spend the afternoon learning about the beauties of renewable energy at the Wild Horse Wind and Solar Facility & Renewable Energy Center Tour (25901 Vantage Hwy)! Free guided tours leave the Renewable Energy Center at 10 am and 2 pm. Get up close and personal with the wind turbines during a 45-60-minute tour where you can actually peak inside the base of an active wind turbine or stop for a bite to eat at Mountain High Hamburgers (2941 W Sparks Rd, Easton). A fun old school style burger joint to stop at when passing Easton on I-90.

Day One: Evening

The perfect spot for classic, no-frills burgers. Simple, yet delicious.

Have you ever had a burrito that is over 13 inches long? Now's your chance. Fidelina's Taqueria (410 S Main St, Ellensburg) famous Burrito Timbon is two large tortillas filled with rice, black beans, sour cream, pico de gallo, lettuce, guacamole, and your choice of meat. It's larger than your forearm! You can't miss this or spend your first evening in Central Washington by relaxing and playing pool at the Frontier Tavern (111 W 4th Ave, Ellensburg). Known for their great service and fun atmosphere this is a great spot to kick off your trip to Central Washington.

Day Two: Morning

Access Point: 47.1007 (Lat) -120.7014 (Long)

The Yakima River is Central Washington's premier wild trout fishery. You can find Smallmouth Bass, Chinook and Coho Salmon, Steelhead and many others in this section of the Yakima River. Check out the following access points and to learn more about fishing on the Yakima River.

Be greeted with mountain views as soon as you enter the park at Manastash Ridge and find good views of the lake throughout. Try not to get too distracted by the views, the first 1/3 mile is shared with snowmobiles! Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife such as bobcats, rabbits, raccoons, and other small critters or grab a bite at Stella's (316 1/2 W 1st St, Cle Elum) where healthy food doesn't have to be bland, Stella's offers delicious sandwiches, soups, sweets, AND beer and wine.

Day Two: Afternoon

In the heart of the beautiful Historic Downtown Ellensburg, Dirks Pizza is a great spot to enjoy fresh, classic pizzas.

More Possibilities:
Go hiking at Cathedral Rock (Snoqualmie Region). This 9-mile hike is not for the faint of heart. With an elevation gain of 2200 ft, the several hikes you will come across will make every step worth it! The first four miles are rugged and on a continuous incline so make sure you eat a nutritious breakfast beforehand or stop in to Owen's Meats (502 E 1st St, Cle Elum) "The Candy Story for the Carnivore" that has been serving meat to the tables of families in the northwest and across the country for over 125 years. See what all the fuss is about and swing by Owen's Meats to stock up on your favorite jerky or fresh cuts!
