central,washington,color,home,page | Where to Go | Vantage
The community of Vantage sits on a scenic bluff overlooking the Columbia River about 28 miles east of Ellensburg off Interstate 90.

A primary attraction is the Wanapum Recreational Site, operated by State Parks, just south of Vantage. Wanapum has a day-use beach, picnic facilities, overnight camping and RV parking sites, and a boat launch.

Farther south, Grant County Public Utility District, in cooperation with state parks, operates the Getty's Cove day-use park for weekends only. There are picnic tables available along with pedestal grills, waste receptacles, portable toilets and parking for up to 50 vehicles.

Kittitas County offers a free boat launch and docks at Vantage.

The Ginkgo Petrified Forest Interpretive Center features displays on the geological history of the area as well as information on ancient local Native American culture.

The center includes Wanapum tribe petrogylphs. The Wanapum tribe lived along the Columbia River. Petrified wood was discovered in the region in the early 1930's, leading to the creation of the park. A nearby upland trail offers an up-close look at an ancient fossil bed.

Take advantage of the amazing natural wonders that are available in and around this area!
