The City of Kittitas, a few miles east of Ellensburg, keeps its attractive, small-town lifestyle, very much alive.

The population of Kittitas is estimated at more than 1,450 by the state and is slowly growing. Kittitas was founded as part of the westward expansion of the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroads. The community was established in 1889 and was incorporated as a city within the state of Washington in 1931.

The $1.4 million project to remodel, expand and update Kittitas City Hall and its fire station was formally completed in 2011. New, friendly businesses have been established in the past two years in downtown and at the Exit 115 interchange area to Interstate 90, including restaurants, taverns and others.
