Be sure to bring your Discover Pass to park at the lands and water-access sites below, unless you're a holder of special hunting or fishing licenses that allow an exemption. These Vehicle Access Passes for Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) lands and water-access sites will be issued free with purchase of a big-game or small-game hunting license, western Washington pheasant permit, trapping license, or saltwater or freshwater or combination recreational fishing license. There is a healthy amount of mule deer and elk here. This location has a high hunter success rate. The northern portion is known to have the best success. Some have said that it is best to hunt after snows have begun in the high country surrounding the unit.
    Quilomene Area
    201 North Pearl St
    Ellensburg, WA 98926
This lush area is located north of Vantage, south of Wenatchee, and east of Ellensburg. It is suitable for four wheel drives, horses, and foot travel. The Quilomene Wildlife Area offers year-round habitat for Rocky Mountain elk, California bighorn sheep, mule deer and coyote. The area also supports birds such as quail, chukar, grouse, hawks, eagles, and many songbirds. There is a particularly large Colockum elk herd here.  Hunting is available in the fall/early winter. Game birds, deer, and elk are hunted here. Hunt late in the season along the snow line for best results.
    Ellensburg, WA 98926
Many clearings that provide good visuals. The Northwest section of LT Murray Wildlife area and Manastash ridge usually has early season elk and deer. As it gets colder and snows, the elk and deer tend to migrate down into the south eastern section of the wildlife area.  Whiskey Canyon on the lower portion is steep but will present opportunities for elk and deer as well.
    Ellensburg WA, 98926
This is a permit only Elk area that primarily encompasses the Yakima Firing Center. 1:4 buck: doe ratio is advised.
    Naneum Ridge
    Ellensburg, WA 98926
The Naneum Ridge State Forest is 71,000-acres and has good accessibility hunting for both elk and deer on or around Table Mountain. The Naneum Basin/Canyon will holds a variety of animals for viewing as well. If there is early snowfall, the deer and elk will migrate downward and will be found mostly on the south facing slopes of Cooke Canyon and Coleman Canyon.  Coleman creek provides a great access point, but it may be crowded with hunters during Elk Season.
    Cle Elum, WA 98922
This location is very similar to Teannaway.  There is a high number of Elk and Deer in this area but they are generally spread out if there is no snow. Deer are found in the lowlands.  Make sure you check out the Little Naches drainage - it is a very successful area for this GMU.
